Does Walgreens Accept EBT?

Walgreens does take EBT/SNAP for eligible food and drinks, but — unlike a typical grocery store — not every Walgreens location accepts it. Walgreens itself says food stamps are accepted "at select stores," so it comes down to that particular location. If you're not sure, a quick call to your nearest store before you go will save you a wasted trip.
Where it is accepted, EBT works at regular registers and self-checkout alike.
What You Can Buy at Walgreens With EBT
At stores that accept it, you can use EBT on SNAP-eligible food and drink items — think snacks, canned and packaged food, and other grocery items sold up front. It doesn't cover anything at the pharmacy counter (prescriptions aren't SNAP-eligible) or health, beauty, vitamin, and household items — those always need a different payment method.
For online orders, Walgreens has partnered with Instacart and DoorDash so SNAP/EBT can be used nationwide for delivery of eligible items, even in areas where the nearest physical store doesn't take EBT in person. It's simplest to add your EBT card in the Instacart or DoorDash app rather than looking for EBT as a payment option directly on walgreens.com.
