Does Instacart Accept EBT?

It depends entirely on where you're shopping — Instacart itself doesn't decide EBT eligibility; the grocery partner you order from does, along with whether your state currently takes part in USDA's SNAP Online Purchasing program. Plenty of major chains work with EBT on Instacart, including Aldi, Costco, Publix, Food Lion, and the various Kroger-family stores, plus a long list of regional grocers — but not every retailer on Instacart accepts it, and coverage keeps expanding.
Before you order, check Instacart's current list of participating EBT retailers for your area, or just try adding your EBT card — if the store doesn't support it, the option simply won't show up at checkout.
What You Can Buy at Instacart With EBT
To use EBT on Instacart, add your SNAP EBT card under payment methods in the app or on the website, and keep a regular credit or debit card on file too — EBT only covers the SNAP-eligible groceries in your cart, while your other card automatically covers taxes, delivery fees, service fees, tips, and any non-eligible items. You can only save one EBT card to your account at a time.
EBT on Instacart also extends to some Grubhub and Seamless orders that are "Powered by Instacart," though it's not yet available for standard Seamless orders or Airbnb Groceries. If you don't see EBT as a payment option for a store you know participates, update your Instacart app — new stores and states get added regularly, so it's worth checking back if it isn't there yet.
