Does Walmart Accept EBT?

Discount Store

Updated August 2026

Yes — Walmart accepts EBT everywhere: in every store, on Walmart.com, and in the Walmart app, in all 50 states. There's no membership required, and nothing special to set up beyond adding your EBT card to your Walmart account.

One thing to watch for online: EBT only covers pickup or delivery orders, not items that ship straight to your door — shipped orders go through regular mail carriers and aren't set up to take SNAP EBT as payment.

What You Can Buy at Walmart With EBT

In store, look for the "SNAP eligible" badge or scan an item's barcode in the Walmart app to check if it qualifies — the usual USDA rules apply, so no hot deli food, alcohol, tobacco, vitamins, pet food, or household supplies. Swipe your EBT card first at checkout and enter your PIN for the eligible items; everything else needs a separate payment.

Online, use the SNAP EBT filter on Walmart.com or in the app, add your card to your wallet, and check out as usual. Curbside pickup is free on orders of $35 or more (otherwise a pickup fee applies), and delivery carries its own fee depending on the delivery window — those fees have to be covered with a debit/credit card or EBT cash benefits, not your SNAP EBT card.
